DAE

The TRANS REALITIES LAB (TRL) is a laboratory of the past, present and future; one that transcends realities, disciplines, and perspectives. It is imagined and developed by Dr Biscoe and his research team, is a hybrid digital environment for research, and a space for students to engage with research facilities, and approaches informed by the exploration of new technologies. A transdisciplinary approach is key to all activities in the lab. Together, they examine how XR and Al can foster new methodologies to support collaborative practice across disciplines and geographies. Increasing complexities in digitally mediated and hybridised realities presents both challenges and opportunities to traditional modes of user interaction and navigation. The lab supports practical and theoretical approaches to testing new roles for the designer.

MUTHESIUS

Muthesius Academy is located in Kiel, Germany, at the Baltic Sea. As the only art academy in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany's northernmost province, it enjoys an excellent reputation and offers its members a unique teaching and learning environment. Further developing this teaching and learning environment is also the focus of the Hybridlab project. Muthesius Academy supports the Hybridlab through its Spatial Strategies Department as well as through its Industrial Design expertise, which emphasizes participatory and inclusive design. The departments undertake projects ranging from cultural planning to digital installations, aligning with Hybridlab's goal of fostering social interaction and identity within digital spaces. Muthesius Academy, together with its partners, is involved in the visualization and technical implementation of designer avatars in unreal environments. This includes leading workshops that cover both the practical and theoretical aspects of avatars and the digital twin of Muthesius that was created for Hybridlab. Further, Muthesius supports Hybridlab by creating experiences which help to identify with the space.

The initiative involves Prof. Dr. Sandra Schramke, Prof. Dr. Annika Frye, and M.A. Du Zhang, who contribute their expertise to explore new methodologies and applications in design education and practice.

UAU PROJECT

UAUPROJECT is a design studio based in Warsaw, Poland. Founded by Justyna Fałdzińska & Miłosz Dąbrowski. They specialise in creating unique and innovative functional art pieces using 3D printing technology. Their work combines a high level of craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, resulting in visually stunning and functional pieces that push the boundaries of what is possible with 3D printing. The studio has gained international recognition for their work, and their pieces can be found in galleries, museums, and private collections around the world.

THE NEW RAW

The New Raw is a research and design studio based in Rotterdam (Netherlands) founded in 2015 by architects Panos Sakkas and Foteini Setaki with the ambition to give new life to discarded materials through design, robots and craftsmanship. The New Raw develops its own (digital) craftsmanship techniques through a formal and technical language that highlights the texture and the layer-by-layer character of its in-house robotic manufacturing process. The exploration of the possibilities that the robotic techniques provide transfor plastic waste into beautiful and meaningful products that are 100% circular.
